"An Alphington Day"
as part of the
Exeter Autumn Festival 2008
Rowena Jay is bringing together some of the Alphington groups
to exhibit in the Exeter Autumn Festival 2008.

The Alphington Local history Group will be displaying more history of
Alphington Village through old pictures and documents. Displays will
include: • The Alphington Choral Society – photographs of the performances, many old programmes and newspaper cuttings reporting on the Society's • Ye Olde Sir Admiral Vernon Mustard Club • The Changing Face of Aldens – pictures and ariel photography • The Alphington Rough Collies – written history and many old photographs of the beautiful Alphington Rough Collies • Speedway in Alphington – photographs of the track and most of the riders • The Egg Packing Station • The Changing Face of The Bell Inn/The Admiral Vernon • Plus a re-run of the extremely popular exhibition ("A Trip Down Memorial Railway Line") commemorating the last passenger train that ran on the Teign Valley Railway Line. There will be pictures of all the old halts and stations from Alphington Halt to Heathfield Station from the John Alsop Collection on show once more by kind permission of John Alsop. Also pictures of some of the old steam locomotives and steam rail motors. |
| The Alphington Photographic Group will show their latest beautiful photographic galleries, which cover a large variety of subjects. |

The Pottery Groups will be displaying their stunning creations. Some members of the groups will also give a demonstration on how a pot is thrown.

The Pottery and Painting Groups will be displaying in the village Art Block, just a few steps away from Alphington Village Hall.
